The Individual and Family Support Program

The Individual and Family Support Program (IFSP) is designed to assist individuals on the waiting list for the Developmental Disability Waiver Program to access short-term resources, supports, and services that will help them remain in their own community homes. The settlement agreement between the Commonwealth and the U.S. Department of Justice on Virginia’s Intellectual and Developmental Disability System requires the IFSP to run until 2021.

The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) operates the IFSP Program.

To be eligible for this program an individual must:
1) be on the DD Waiver Waitlist and
2) have provided receipts from any previous IFSP funding period (only if you have received funds in the past).

The maximum award amount per individual is $1,000.

New this year, all applications must be completed using the on-line application system.

There are no paper applications available this year, and paper applications will not be accepted.
